The following other search options are available to you:

  • For Violence Simple
    A quick search for descriptions of violence in ancient sources.

  • For Violence Extended
    This option allows for complex searches for acts of violence mentioned in ancient sources.

  • For Persons
    A search for known individuals involved in violent acts as perpetrators, victims, or witnesses.

  • For Groups
    A search for known groups of persons involved in violent acts as perpetrators, victims or witnesses.

  • For Authors
    A search for authors writing about violence in their works.

  • For Topologies
    A search for known places or regions where violent acts took place.

  • For Works
    A search for ancient authors' works containing descriptions of violence.

  • Index of persons
    An alphabetical overview of all individuals mentioned in the database who are involved in violent acts as perpetrators, victims, or witnesses.

  • Advanced Search
    This search option enables the free combination of diverse search parameters via syntactical orders. It serves the purpose of conducting highly specialized searches which are not possible by using the available search options. (MyCoRe Query Language)

Please note that all entries in the fields are connected with the boolean AND , this means that every entry restricts your search in addition. The maximum number of results is unlimited . Should you receive too many results, please pose your search anew by using more restricting criteria.

There are differences between the search in descriptive data (metadata) and the full-text search. A full-text search can be only successful if the object was indicated. Pictures, videos and a few pdf-files are not indexed and for this reason they are only searchable about the metadata .

Keep in mind that search strings must have at least three characters . You can use an asterisk * as a wildcard. Currently the search is case-sensitive.
