    Original Text :ὡς οὖν ἐγγὺς ἦλθεν, ἐκτείνας τὴν δεξιὰν ἀνεβόησε μεγάλῃ τῇ φωνῇ ‘χαῖρε, βασιλεῦ Ἀντίγονε, νικῶμεν Πτολεμαῖον ναυμαχίᾳ καὶ Κύπρον ἔχομεν καὶ στρατιώτας αἰχμαλώτους μυρίους ἑξακισχιλίους ὀκτακοσίους.
     
    Translation :Accordingly, when he had come near, he stretched out his hand and cried with a loud voice: ‘Hail, King Antigonus, we have conquered Ptolemy in a sea-fight, and now hold Cyprus, with twelve thousand eight hundred soldiers as prisoners of war.’

    long-term consequence: Demetrius captures many of Ptolemaeus' friends. This is mentioned in 16.3. Menelaus, who was blockaded in Salamis during the battle, surrendered the island to Demetrius soon after the battle. This is mentioned in 16.4. After the battle Antigonus and Demetrius call themselves kings for the first time. This is mentioned in 18.1.
