    Original Text :ἀκούσας δὲ τὴν ὑπὸ Βήσσου γενομένην αὐτοῦ σύλληψιν ἀπέλυσε τοὺς Θεσσαλοὺς οἴκαδε, δισχίλια τάλαντα δωρεὰν ἐπιμετρήσας ταῖς μισθοφοραῖς.
     
    Translation :but when he heard that Dareius had been seized by Bessus, he sent his Thessalians home, after distributing among them a largess of two thousand talents over and above their pay.

    Remark :perpetrator: Bessus probably did not act without armed soldiers to support him.
    long-term consequence: Darius is later killed by Bessus. This is mentioned in 43.1. Bessus is executed for this deed on Alexander's orders. This is mentioned in 43.3.
