    Original Text :ἐκ δὲ τῆς μάχης ταύτης συνέβησαν οἱ στρατιῶται αὐτοὶ αὑτοῖς καὶ ἠσπάζοντο τοὺς μετὰ Θρασύλλου.
     
    Translation :As a result of this battle the soldiers came together of their own accord and the old troops fraternised with those under Thrasyllus.

    Remark :perpetrator: Menander is not equal in rank with Alcibiades and Thrasyllos, but second in command (Xen. Hell. 1.2.16).
    victim: Origin: The victims are also the people of Abydus.
    longtermconsequence: Pharnabazus and his soldiers must flee after their defeat (see also in Xen. Hell. 1.2.16). And as a result of this battle the Athenian soldiers, who were divided before (Xen. Hell. 1.2.15), came together of their own accord and fraternized with eachother (see also in Xen. Hell. 1.2.17).
