    Original Text :Et ecce subito nunciatum est Hludowico et suis, imperatorem cum valida manu hostiliter super eum venire. lpse autem cum eis quos secum habuit e regione stetit, et irruentibus imperatoris cuneis, et illis fortiter resistentibus, hostis imperatoris terga vertit et fugiendo super imperatorem venit. Sed et imperator cum paucis vix fuga lapsus evasit.

    Notes :Many of the fleeing leaders and soldiers cannot escape because they are hindered by their baggage train, their camp followers and merchants, thus dying in flight, described in: "Leaders and soldiers of the Army of Charles the Bald are killed or captured in flight, hindered by their baggage and camp followers."
    Others have their equipment stolen by the local population and have to flee naked: "Civilians rob fleeing men of Charles the Bald, leaving them naked."
