    Original Text :οἱ δ᾽ ὑπολειπόμενοι δεινότατον ἔργον ἔδρασαν: ἐπεὶ γὰρ ἐν τῷ ἀσθενεστάτῳ ἐγένοντο, ἐπ᾽ ἀλλήλους ἐτράποντο καὶ ἀλλήλων ἐγεύοντο.
     
    Translation :Those who were left behind did a monstrous thing; for when they were reduced to the last extremity, they had recourse to themselves and devoured one another. Such was the condition in which these people found themselves.
