Livy. History of Rome by Titus Livius: the epitomes of the lost books. literally translated, with notes and illustrations, by. William A. McDevitte. York Street, Covent Garden, London. Henry G. Bohn. John Child and son, printers, Bungay. 1850. 4.
Notes :
Time of Composition: "L. worked on his history for over 40 years; he obviously wrote and published it piece by piece: bks. 1-5 (until 389 BC) in the years 27-25 BC, bks. 6-10 probably before 20 BC, then bks. 26-30 after 19 BC, etc. The last part (from bk. 121 on) was, as the Periochae state, only published after the death of Augustus (AD 14), but was already completed earlier."
